Sally went to Hull University - intent to become a radio journalist. Whilst there she became involved in the drama group and decided at that point to become an actress. Her first 'break' came with a three year tour of 'Girls' Night Out' - a No.1 tour across the country.
In 2000 she was 'spotted' by the Casting Director of 'The Royle Family' and became 'Michelle' in one of the final episodes of the series. Later in 2000 she worked with Peter Kay in Phoenix Nights and in 2001 the part of 'Shelley' in Coronation Street' was created for her which she played until her departure in June 2006.
Since leaving Coronation Street, Sally has returned to theatre and has played "Marilyn Monroe" in "Ella, Meet Marilyn" at the Edinburgh Festival, "Linda" - the stand-up comedienne in "The Ho-Ho Club" at the Kings Head, London, "Beatrice" in "Much Ado About Nothing" at the Stafford Shakespeare Festival and a National tour in Eurobeat. Last November/December (2008) she played the coveted lead role of 'Helen' in the 50th Anniversary production of Sheelagh Delaney's A Taste of Honey at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester which broke box office records. Subsequently the Exchange commissioned Neil Bartlett to write Everybody Loves a Winner for the 2009 Manchester International Festival, in which Sally played the lead role of 'Linda'.
On Christmas Day 2008 she was the voice of Piella Bakewell in the latest Wallace and Gromit television movie - A Matter of Loaf and Death and is back on screen in February 2010 in the second series of Scallywagga - a comedy sketch show for BBC.
Sally is also an Ambassador for her designated charity 'Alzheimers' in memory of her beloved grand-mother.
Testimonial.
The event was great and Sally was great. We have received loads of fantastic feedback and a lot of it was about Sally saying how good she was. We would like to write to her and thank her and I am sure we will want to work with Sally again on other projects.
