Noddy, was the lead singer and front man of 1970s glam rock legends Slade alongside guitarist Dave Hill, bass player Jim Lea and drummer Don Powell. Slade were rarely out of the charts during the 1970s and boasted six number one hits between 1971 and 76 - Coz I Luv You, Take Me Bak 'ome, Mama Weer All Crazee Now, Cum On Feel The Noize, Skweeze Me Pleeze Me and Merry Christmas Everybody. For many, Merry Christmas Everybody is THE Christmas pop song and has made numerous festive reappearances in the charts, leading Noddy to describe the song as 'his pension'.
Since leaving Slade, Noddy has promoted 'Nobby’s Nuts' and appeared on television as the head teacher in ‘The Grimleys’ and a mechanic in Max and Paddy’. He has also co–presented ‘Top of the Pops’ on BBC2 and is a regular on the hilarious BBC serious, ‘Grumpy Old Men’.
