Barbara came to prominence as the CEO of budget airline Go. Go was founded with a £25m investment by British Airways and was operating in one of the most innovative sectors of the airline industry: Low Cost. Although originally pioneered in the USA in the '70s, the Low Cost model only took off in Europe in the 90's and required a whole new approach to management and costs, while facing up to the challenges of rapidly developing technology. To put the rate of change into context, at the time of launch there was no online booking, yet within 18 months the majority of bookings were from the website, and email marketing was a key part of their marketing strategy. Following its sale to EasyJet, Barbara was asked to chair the London 2012 Olympic bid which she successfully guided through the first bid stage, before handing full control to Lord Coe. She is asked to speak around the world on leadership and managing change and innovation."
