"Jon has an ability to take the audience through the harrowing mire of his mind and have them feel all the better for it".
2009's Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee and Have I Got News For You panellist, Jon Richardson will be taking his new show 'Don't Happy, Be Worry' across the UK this autumn. Following three years of shows picking apart his personality, this year sees Jon Richardson going against regular convention and trying desperately NOT to be himself. One of comedy's grumpiest young men attempts to deliver a genuine, feel-good hour full of love and bubbles and sunshine. Can a misanthropic leopard change its hate-filled spots?
Away from the platform of stand-up Jon Richardson is also massively in demand in the realms of television and radio. Having left his job as host on the much loved BBC6 Music Sunday mid-morning show in March after three years, his recent TV credits include: Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow (BBC ONE), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC TWO), Grumpy Young Men (Comedy Central), The Bubble (BBC TWO) and Walk on the Wild Side (BBC ONE). As well as recording a pilot for his own BBC Radio 4 show Debatable, Jon Richardson has made appearances on numerous radio shows including ...And the Winner is (BBC Radio 2), hosted by Matt Lucas), Act Your Age (BBC Radio 4), The Museum of Curiosity (Radio 4) and is also a regular contributor on Five Live's Fighting Talk.
Jon's talent also extends to that of writer. He is a frequent contributor to national press and recently wrote a cover article for the Guardian's Weekend Magazine for their Valentine's issue.
A regular on the stand-up circuit, Jon has recently returned from performing to sell out audiences at the 2010 Melbourne Comedy Festival. His first gig was in 2003 where he won his heat of the BBC New Comedy Talent Search. After completing a 60 date UK with Alan Carr in 2006, Jon won 'Best Breakthrough Act' at the 2007 Chortle Awards and went on to receive a 'Best Newcomer' nomination for his show Spatula Pad at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This was followed in 2008 with a successful Edinburgh run of his second solo show Dogmatic and a subsequent Edinburgh Comedy Award best show nomination in 2009 for his third Edinburgh show, This Guy at Night.
"Jon Richardson is developing into a quietly sophisticated comedian who is at turns hilarious and disturbing and under no circumstances should you miss Don't Happy, Be Worry."
